While you may have been told that being overweight is a result of excess calories, too little exercising, too much fat, or a result of genetics, that may be true in some cases, but that's not ALL of the root cause which is much more complex. 


To begin understanding weight loss, you must know that the body has a set point for weight, but also a very versatile set point for different circumstances and environmental factors. The body wants to be thin and healthy, and it can be, but UNDER THE RIGHT CIRCUMSTANCES!

The problem is that our biological bodies have not changed much since the beginning of time, but man has our world. Our circumstances have changed by 10 fold, and our bodies have done a great job at adapting, but it's had enough. We're wrecking havoc on our health and our bodies are trying to tell us something is seriously wrong. We keep falling for new fad diets and quick fixes that are just doing us more harm than good.


You probably know that you have automatic, innate reactions to different environmental surroundings, signaling your body in different cues to behave certain ways. Think back in the day: your body may be working for you to be thin, slim to be fast and able to run away from predators, and it naturally does everything it can to keep you this way.. In order to protect you and keep you safe. Your body may be bulky and carry extra weight to maintain the cold and slow winters… to keep you safe.


The brain has so much power over the body. It can tell the body to speed up, increase metabolism when needed, all without you even trying or thinking. It can tell your body to slow down when needed, and your brain also tells your body when to store fat, when needed. All of these actions are there for one thing- to keep you safe!


The thing is, your body will be at its perfect weight at a given time, under the right circumstances and environment (inside and outside the body). What we eat, breathe, consume, think, etc, all of these things affect the way our bodies react to our environments-and impact our weight set point! Weight set point is like a continuum. Your weight is constantly being pulled at both ways trying to keep in balance.
